Principal's Message

It is truly an honor to serve as principal of Mead Valley Elementary School, home of the Distinguished Dolphins!  At Mead Valley Elementary, we take great pride in ensuring high levels of learning for ALL children and preparing them for global productivity.

This year, our school will become an AVID school.  AVID, or Advancement through Individual Determination, is a program focused on closing the achievement gaps of students and preparing them for college success.  The two main focus areas of AVID at the elementary school level are:  teaching students organizational skills and fostering a college going culture.  I invite you to support the implementation of AVID at our school by reviewing your child’s AVID agenda and binder (or folder for TK - 2nd grade students) daily.

Our school’s mission is to ensure the Academic, Social and Emotional success for EVERY child.  Further, our school along with every school in Val Verde Unified School District, has set a goal to have every student reading proficiently by the end of third grade. To accomplish this goal, we need your support!  Please read with or identify someone that can read with your child for a minimum of 20 minutes daily.

Parents, we promise to provide a learning environment that is positive, safe, caring and a fun place to learn and grow!  My message to you is to stay involved. This can be accomplished by staying in contact with your child’s teacher, volunteering to serve on our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), our English Learners Advisory Committee (ELAC), our School Site Council (SSC) or serving as a volunteer on field-trips or in one of our classrooms.

Lastly, our expectations will be to consistently make you aware of your child’s progress, and answer any questions or concerns you have at any time. This form of two-way monitoring will help ensure the success of your child’s education and well-being.

Thank you for your continued support,

Ms. Smith, Principal
